Types Of Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure where hair follicles from one part of the scalp are removed and transferred to a position with thinning hair or to a bald patch. Individual follicles from the donor site (part of the scalp with healthy hair) are transferred to the recipient site (blading patch). Hair follicles containing 1-4 hair is transferred by making small incisions and inserting them in the recipient site. The hair follicles are inserted to mimic the original hair pattern. This long and tedious process can take up to8 hours depending on the region.Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
FUT is also known as Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS). A 6-10-inch strip of skin from the back of the head is removed. This strip is divided into 500-2000 tiny grafts with individual hairs that are inserted into the recipient site. The insertion process is similar to that of FUE. The area where the strip is removed is stitched back and a scar is formed eventually. Before insertion, the recipient region is cleaned, local anesthesia is administered, and the transplant process is begun. A hair transplant is an outpatient procedure. But it will take 2-5 days for the incisions to heal. The doctor may prescribe painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicines for a few days. In 3-4 months 10-80% of the transplanted hair will grow. Initially, there will be a little hair loss but by 6-9 months 60% of the hair transplanted will grow and remain permanent.
