Self Love: Necessity or Luxury?

Love is the key to the integration of all of society. It is a complex: some sides of love that we adore, and some that make us feel sad or depressed and want to run away from. But this does not determine an individual’s worth. If you are untrue to yourself, love won’t last. This love and its aspects can be between a person and person but also between you and yourself. Let's talk about Self Love: Necessity or Luxury? Self-love is now deemed the most important attribute for any person, and personally, I could not agree more. It seems to be a luxury in these trying times but is, in fact, a necessity. But why is it important? We often find ourselves going over and above to take care and please everyone in our lives but forget the most crucial person: ourselves. Love is not some kind of a resource. It can be given endlessly, to those around you and to the giver yourself. True love begins with loving oneself.

What is Self Love: Necessity or Luxury?

We are allowed to have negative feelings and bad days. Not everything can and will be positive. Let yourself feel the bad days and experience negative emotions but don’t become consumed by them. There will always be bad in the world but it’s up to us to focus on the good. Progress doesn’t have to be perfect in order for it to be worthwhile. It is unique for every person and no one can determine the impact but themselves. Know your worth, know that you’re good enough. Know that you deserve love and happiness, and know that you will be ok. We get to decide for ourselves what it means to be happy. But it’s okay to show weakness sometimes. It’s okay to be us. We have many faults, and many more fears, but we have to embrace ourselves as hard as we can, as, in the end, we have got only ourselves. Surely, we will all keep stumbling and falling. And maybe you made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s you is still you. Today, you are who you are with all your faults and mistakes. Tomorrow, you might be a tiny bit wiser, and that would be you too. These faults and mistakes are what you are, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of your life. On this World Health Day, let us try to come to love ourselves for who we are, for who we were and for who we hope to become.
